Over Heated Steering System

  • There could be too much fluid flow from the pump
  • Check for air trapped in the steering system
  • The vehicle could be overloaded making the pump labor
  • Check for blocked, bent, kinked hoses or fittings
  • The hoses or fittings could be too small for the proper pump
  • Check for a clogged filter restricting flow of hydraulic oil
  • The pump could be too large or too small for the application
  • The pressure relief poppets may not be adjusted correctly
